The Kershaw leek knife Ultimate Review, History, Colors, Types, And deals
The Revolutionary Kershaw Leek Knives includes everything from the Classic Leek in addition to a non-reflective DLC matte-black and other colors coating, and a partially serrated or straight edges. The Leek’s razor sharp 3-inch modified drop-point blade is crafted with 14C28N Sandvik steel, providing excellent corrosion resistance and hardness.
The blade performs masterfully in its slicing capacity, while the slim tip provides excellent piercing action and performs detailed work well. For cutting through tougher materials, the Leak’s partial scallop serration offers even cutting power without tearing material.
Diamond-Like Carbon steel
Finished with a micron-thin DLC coating (Diamond-Like Carbon), the knives wears a full-body matte-black and non black finish and a hard, scratch resistant surface, for looks that match top-of the line performance.

About the SpeedSafe System
The patented SpeedSafe knife-opening system helps users open the knife by applying manual pressure to the thumb stud or blade protrusion. The heart of the SpeedSafe system–which is built into many of Kershaw’s best-selling knives–is its torsion bar, which keeps gravity from opening the knife.
After the blade is out of the handle, the torsion bar moves along its half-moon track and takes over, smoothly opening the blade and locking it into position, ready for use. Although they may look similar at first glance, SpeedSafe knives are not considered switchblades. Unlike a switchblade, SpeedSafe knives do not deploy with the push of a button in the handle or by gravity alone.
Instead, the user must manually overcome the torsion bar’s resistance, putting the knives outside the federal definition of a switchblade. However, it’s the responsibility of the buyer to investigate and comply with the laws and regulations that apply in his or her specific area.
Buyers should rest assured, however, that SpeedSafe knives are extremely safe, as they open only when the user manually deploys them, and lock securely into position when open so they don’t close accidentally.
Knife Maker Ken Onion
Ken Onion is one the most influential contemporary knife makers in the world. Credited with developing the assisted-opening knife back in 1998, he continues to innovate and prosper.
Sandvik 14C28N steel is a high-performance steel with increased nitrogen in the formula for excellent corrosion resistance and hardness. One of the highest performing knife steel in the world that still maintains the productivity benefit of being fine-blankable, 14C28N steel is ideal for knife applications which place high demands on edge sharpness, edge stability and corrosion resistance.
Attractive Blade Finish
Kershaw’s Bead-Blasted finish enhances a knife’s aesthetics and complements its end-use. The high-tech finish is achieved by applying a mixture of fine media onto the blade’s steel under high pressure, creating a smooth, non-reflective matte surface. Fine media includes glass and aluminum oxide beads that allow color variation and optimal performance results for an overall stunning effect.
Using a torsion bar to move the blade out of the handle, Kershaw’s revolutionary SpeedSafe Assisted Opening system enables smooth, secure, fast one-handed blade deployment. Apply manual pressure to the flipper or thumb stud with a light push or pull back to overcome resistance of the torsion bar, and the blade opens smoothly and locks into place for confident handling without premature closure
Convenient Pocketclip and Glassbreaker Tip
Kershaw designs pocketclips to fit specific knives according to their weight, intended end use, size, style and hardware. Some knives have multiple carry options, others are more streamlined. The reversible pocketclip allows user to choose to carry knife tip-up or tip-down or to choose on which side knife carries. The user may select either a preferred tip position or a preferred carry side.
